Where can I work?
This is an online, work from home, or wherever you wish kind of job. You can facilitate learning anywhere from the U.S. and Canada.

- Stable Internet connection (cable connection preferred)
What are the technical requirements?
- Minimum upload speed: 2Mbps. Minimum download speed: 4Mbps.

Do classes take place on Skype or another platform?
Classes take place on a unique, cutting-edge platform to facilitate your online sessions.
How soon can I expect to hear from Smart Panda after I apply?
If your application materials pass our preliminary screening, you will be contacted within a week for further steps.
How do I teach?
You will be facilitating learning through a patented and interactive learning platform. All curricula are preset and provided. The Chinese learner will learn material through the Smart Micky educational app, and you will facilitate accuracy and optimal learning.
Do I need to do any lesson plans?
You will need to prepare for each lesson by familiarizing yourself with the provided materials and the students’ assessments.
Do I need to prepare materials?
Our curriculum team has already designed materials for every class. However, virtual tutors should prepare for class by reviewing the materials beforehand. You can preview class materials in the portal 6-12 hours in advance.
How long is one lesson?
Each lesson time is 25 minutes. Virtual tutors should test their “classroom equipment” prior to each lesson.
How many students will I be teaching per lesson?
Typically 1- 3. The lessons with 3 learners are at an enhanced rate.
Will I facilitate the learning experience of the same students every time?
We try to match the same virtual tutors and learners the best we can, but you should expect to see a few new faces in every class.
Do I need to communicate with parents?
No, Smart Panda staff will communicate with parents and provide feedback periodically.
How much time do I need to commit to this job?
The minimum is 10 lessons per week (at 25 minutes per lesson) = less than 5 hours per week.
Can I indicate my preferred work hours?
Yes, we will get your schedule in the onboarding process.
How does the scheduling work?
Your class schedule is set weekly. You can check your schedule for the upcoming week in the Smart Panda Teacher Software every Sunday evening.
What is the class cancellation policy?
In case of emergency, you may cancel the scheduled class by notifying Smart Panda Class Coordination Team at least 24 hours in advance.
How much can I earn?
You can earn up to up to $2,300 per month. Because you select your own workload, total earning opportunities vary.
What kind of commitment is there?
You must commit to a 6-month contract and a minimum of 10 (25-minute) lessons per week during the contract term.
Do I need to be able to speak Chinese?
We offer full English immersion for our students, so there’s no need to know Chinese.
How and when will I be paid?
All virtual tutors will be paid via bank transfer to your U.S. or Canada bank accounts. The transfer fee is covered by Smart Panda. We pay bi-weekly resulting in 26 pay periods every 12 months! The consistency of bi-weekly pay provides security for the virtual tutor to better budget in a challenging and uncertain economy.
How much tax do I need to pay?
All Smart Panda virtual tutors will be responsible for personal taxes in accordance with state and country laws, and individual tax jurisdictions.
I am a resident of Canada; am I paid in U.S. dollars?
All virtual tutors will be paid in U.S. dollars.
How long is the contract? Can I take time off?
The contract term is 6 months with the possibility to extend upon re-evaluation. Please inform the Class Coordination Team two weeks in advance if you need to take extended time off during the contract.
